A Terminal Diagnosis and Facing Death

A Terminal Diagnosis and Facing Death

Imagine being told your child has a terminal diagnosis. This the courageous battle of Beckham Hoagland-Bice of Melba, Idaho. Beckham received a cancer diagnosis of DIPG in November of 2017. He was given four to nine months to live. Beckham passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at about 4 a.m.

I cannot even fathom being told that my child is going to pass away and then watching that come to pass. It is never a part of any parents plan and the most bitter cup one could be offered. Beckham’s Mom, Allison, told me she was weak, but she proved to be one of the strongest and most valiant Mother’s I have ever met.

Beckham had a positivity about him that inspired thousands. Near the end of his battle with DIPG, his mom shared a story about how they were eating enchilada’s one night and watching Shazam. Beckham proclaimed,

“I love everything about my life.”

This was a little boy who had been robbed of the ability to walk. He couldn’t do most things little 9-year-old boys love to do, and yet he loved his life and appreciated all the love around him.

If you weren’t fortunate enough to know Beckham on this earth, here’s a little bit about him in his own words. We love you, Beckham! We hope you are running and playing and laughing in heaven right now. Our prayers will continue to be with your family that they can find peace.

Hold your babies and your loved ones close because life is so very precious and we are never guaranteed tomorrow.
