I discovered Karla Cadeau 14 years ago through a YouTube video. I have no idea how I stumbled across it, but it impacted me deeply. My heart just broke for this beautiful couple that had so suddenly lost their full-term, beautiful baby girl. Karla had a blog back then called “Untangling Knots” and I read every post leading up to her daughter’s birth and her poetically documented grief afterwords.
Through the years, as social media developed, I continued to find Karla and I continued to connect with this woman I had never actually met. She inspired me to be a better mother and to work through my own battles with grief.
I finally had the opportunity to talk to Karla over the phone this past weekend and she shared the story that impacted me so profoundly a decade and a half ago.
A birth story that went absolutely nothing as she had planned and learning to find joy again after gutwrenching loss.
